Manchester United may have the perfect opportunity to welcome Paul Pogba back to the club with a potential return for his third spell at Old Trafford.
The midfielder is searching for a new club after his release from Juventus.
It is eligible to return to football next month following an 18-month doping ban for testing positive for the banned substance DHEA.
His suspension was originally four years but was reduced after an appeal.
This opens up the possibility of a third stint with Manchester United, where Pogba could return after leaving for Juventus in 2022 on a free transfer.
Should this move materialise, Marcus Rashford’s departure would allow Pogba to take the number 10 shirt. Rashford had worn the number since 2018, but following his loan move to Aston Villa in January, the shirt is now available for another player.
Pogba has previously worn the number 10 during his time at Juventus, both before and after his first move to United. Interestingly, Jimmy Butler, a close friend of Pogba, recently referenced him when explaining why he chose the number 10 for his own NBA team, the Golden State Warriors, after signing a £90 million contract.
