Man,64, Arrested and charged for Voyeurism at Taylor Swift’s Edinburgh Concert
A 64-year-old man has been charged with voyeurism after attending one of Taylor Swift’s sold-out “Reputation” tour shows in Edinburgh, Scotland, over the weekend.
According to Scotland Police, the man was arrested during the 14-time Grammy winner’s performance at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday, where a crowd of 73,000 had gathered.
Superintendent David Happs stated, “A 64-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a voyeurism offence committed within Murrayfield during the event on Saturday, June 8.”
The individual has been released on an undertaking to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court later.
Non-consensual voyeurism is considered illegal in the UK, involving the act of obtaining sexual gratification by watching or recording someone in a private setting.
Taylor Swift, aged 34, kicked off the UK leg of her global tour with three sold-out shows in Edinburgh on Friday.
Performing to a crowd of 73,000 each night, the “Cruel Summer” singer set a new record for the highest attendance at stadium concerts in Scotland’s history.
Expressing her gratitude on Instagram after the shows, Swift wrote, “Edinburgh!!! You truly blew me away this weekend. Thank you for breaking the all-time attendance record for a stadium show in Scotland 3 times in a row and for all the ways you made us feel right at home. Love you, all 220,000 of you!!!”
The Edinburgh performances included memorable moments, such as a couple getting engaged during her “Folklore” and “Evermore” set.
Addressing the crowd at Murrayfield Stadium, Swift exclaimed, “I love performing this entire show in the sunlight ’cause I’m pretty sure I just saw somebody get engaged over here.”
Following confirmation of the engagement by fans, Swift enthusiastically congratulated the couple, saying, “Yes! Congratulations, wow! I just saw that whole thing. Man, that’s amazing … Thanks for doing that at my concert; that’s a big moment!”
Swift’s Edinburgh shows marked the beginning of her 15-date tour in the UK. Before she heads to Ireland, she has performances scheduled in Liverpool, Cardiff, and London.
