An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal shooting of Michelle Sadio, 44, outside a church in Willesden, London.
The mother was among 120 attendees at a wake held on December 14 at the River of Life Elim Pentecostal Church on Gifford Road.
As she left the event around 9:15 pm, shots were fired from a black Kia Niro, which was later found burned out on Barnhill Road.
Police believe Sadio may not have been the intended target of the attack.
Two men in their 30s were also injured. One remains in critical but stable condition, while the other has been discharged.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, leading the investigation, described the incident as a “senseless act of violence” and urged witnesses to come forward:
“This arrest marks a significant step forward, but we continue to appeal for anyone with information to speak with us. Michelle’s family continues to grieve, and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice.”
The car involved in the shooting, identified by its distinctive alloys and registration plate LA23 XRE, remains a focal point of the investigation.
Police are still gathering information and seeking public assistance to trace the events leading to the tragedy.
Anyone knowledgeable about the car’s movements or the individuals responsible is encouraged to contact authorities.
This tragic event highlights the devastating impact of gun violence on innocent lives and the urgent need for community cooperation in bringing perpetrators to justice.
