Kyle Richards marked her second anniversary of being alcohol-free on social media Thursday, sharing a personal milestone with her followers.
The 55-year-old “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star posted a gym selfie on Instagram to celebrate her sobriety journey.
“This week was my 2nd anniversary of being alcohol-free (July 15th). I can remember when the idea of going two weeks seemed impossible,” Richards wrote in her Instagram caption.
The post featured Richards in a black workout outfit, showcasing her fit physique as she posed in her home gym with her dog.
Richards reflected on the challenges she faced, admitting that many people, including well-meaning friends, have expressed a desire for her to return to drinking. “I know many people would love for me to start drinking again. Even friends with the best of intentions. Everyone loved ‘Party Kyle.’ I think that was the hardest part of all of this. The resistance from others,” she shared.
The reality star acknowledged her past tendency to drink to please others and to feel “on” in social situations. “My mental and physical health became much more important to me,” she continued. “It would have been a lot harder going through these difficult times if I had been drinking.”
Richards did not specify the “difficult times” she mentioned, but she is likely referring to her separation from Mauricio Umansky, her husband of 27 years. Recently, Umansky was seen with a mystery woman in Mykonos, Greece.
Despite the personal challenges, Richards remains focused on her health and well-being. “Mentally & physically strong enough to face whatever comes my way,” she wrote. She expressed happiness at inspiring others to embrace a booze-free lifestyle and concluded with a message of self-acceptance. “I prefer to see people and situations just as they are. AND without the hangxiety ❤️ #alcoholfree,” she added.
