Kim Richards, former star of ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’, has reportedly relapsed after years of sobriety and was placed on a psychiatric hold earlier this month, according to TMZ.
The incident occurred at a Hilton hotel in Los Angeles, where Richards began acting incoherently. Police were called when she allegedly refused to leave, leading to her being placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold and taken to a hospital by ambulance.

A 5150 hold allows authorities to involuntarily check someone into a psychiatric facility for 72 hours if they’re deemed to be experiencing a mental health crisis.
After her release, Richards temporarily stayed at a Los Angeles home owned by her younger sister, Kyle Richards. However, a dispute occurred between the sisters, and Kim was reportedly asked to leave Kyle’s property. Police were again called to remove her, and it was reported that her family had cut her off in hopes of helping her regain sobriety.

Richards has struggled with substance abuse for many years, with her issues becoming public during her time on ‘RHOBH’. In the first season, Kyle Richards revealed Kim’s alcoholism.

Bravo, the network behind *RHOBH*, reportedly paid for Kim’s rehab in 2011 to help her sober.

Kim had credited the reality show for holding her accountable and helping her maintain sobriety for several years. While she hasn’t been a full-time cast member since Season 5, Kim has made guest appearances in recent seasons.

It is unclear when her relapse occurred, but last June, she was seen celebrating her daughter Whitney Davis’ wedding alongside her sisters Kyle and Kathy Hilton.
Reps for Kim Richards have yet to respond to requests for comment.
