Katie Price Arrested at Heathrow After Skipping Bankruptcy Hearing for £10,000 Facelift in Turkey
Katie Price was arrested at Heathrow Airport on Thursday evening, shortly after returning from Turkey, where she had undergone a £10,000 facelift.
The former glamour model, 46, was seen being escorted from a police van with her head covered in bandages and black tape.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Price was detained at 7:45 p.m. and is currently in custody at a west London police station. She is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
Price’s arrest follows her failure to attend a bankruptcy court hearing on Tuesday, which was part of her ongoing £760,000 bankruptcy proceedings. Instead of appearing in court, Price flew to Turkey for her sixth facelift and stayed at a luxury hotel costing £133 per night.
Her boyfriend, JJ Slater, 31, who also travelled with her to Turkey, was left to handle her luggage after her arrest. Price had anticipated her detention upon returning to the UK and had requested that authorities ensure “dignity and protection” for her 22-year-old son, Harvey, who accompanied her to Turkey. Price described the arrest as distressing for her son and expressed concern over how it would impact him.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Price acknowledged the gravity of her financial situation but insisted she was being mistreated. She attributed her bankruptcy to severe mental health issues and PTSD and claimed that her financial troubles did not reflect her character. She expressed determination to repay her debts and requested that the situation be handled compassionately for her son’s sake.
Price has faced legal challenges due to her bankruptcies, including a previous order to pay £25,000 after being declared bankrupt twice. The judge had warned her of the risk of arrest if she failed to attend further court dates. Price had previously been evicted from her Sussex home and recently moved to a new Tudor-style property costing £5,000 per month.
The former glamour model had been declared bankrupt for the second time in March over an unpaid tax bill of £761,994.05, following an earlier bankruptcy declaration in 2019. Despite claims of resolving her financial issues, Price was later served with an eviction notice and recently had her £2 million “Mucky Mansion” repossessed.
Price had travelled to Turkey on July 29, sharing a photo of her departure on social media just hours before she missed a court hearing. In Turkey, she underwent surgery at the Trio Clinic in Istanbul and had dental work done, which she documented on Instagram.
In her statement, Price expressed frustration with the media coverage of her situation, asserting that focusing on her difficulties was unwarranted. She emphasized her commitment to addressing her financial issues and improving her mental health while continuing to work on her bankruptcy case.
