Los Angeles, CA – Rapper Kanye West is facing significant fallout following his latest string of antisemitic and hateful remarks. On Tuesday, his music booking agent, Daniel McCartney of 33 & West, announced that he would no longer represent the 47-year-old artist.
“Effective immediately, I’m no longer representing YE (F/K/A Kanye West) due to his harmful and hateful remarks that myself nor 33 & West can stand for,” McCartney stated on his Instagram Stories, concluding his message with “Peace and love to all” and a heart emoji.
Social Media Rants and Controversy
The decision follows a four-day tirade by West on the social media platform X, during which he praised Adolf Hitler, identified as a Nazi, and denied the existence of antisemitism.
His posts were widely condemned before he ultimately deleted his account.
The controversy comes on the heels of a shocking Grammys red carpet appearance, where West and his wife, Bianca Censori, 30, made headlines after Censori appeared nearly naked.
The American Jewish Committee (AJC) condemned West’s remarks, warning of their potential impact.
“Ye continues to purposefully use his platform to spew anti-Jewish hatred,” the AJC told The Post. “While some may dismiss his hateful rants, we cannot overlook the dangerous influence they can have on his millions of followers, particularly on social media, where a significant portion of today’s antisemitism thrives.”
Super Bowl Ad and Online Store Shutdown
The backlash against West intensified after he ran a Super Bowl ad promoting his online store, which was found to be selling a $20 swastika T-shirt.
This led Shopify to remove his Yeezy.com website on Tuesday, citing violations of its platform rules.
“All merchants are responsible for following the rules of our platform. This merchant did not engage in authentic commerce practices and violated our terms, so we removed them from Shopify,” the company told Variety in a statement.
Past Antisemitic Incidents and Fallout
West has a history of antisemitic remarks, which previously led to severe professional and financial consequences. In 2022, he was named “Antisemite of the Year” by the watchdog group StopAntisemitism after threatening to go “death con 3 on Jewish people” and claiming Jewish executives controlled him.
His past behavior also resulted in major brands cutting ties with him, including Adidas, Balenciaga, and Gap. West even appeared on Alex Jones’ “Infowars” show, where Jones later told YouTuber Steven Crowder, “He said, ‘I looove Hitler’ — I think he had an orgasm over there. There’s a real creepy factor with this Hitler stuff.”
As West faces increasing industry isolation, it remains unclear what impact this latest controversy will have on his career moving forward.
