Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, surprised fellow passengers by flying commercial on a recent flight.
TikTok user Brandon Doggett shared a video last week showing the “Gold Digger” rapper and the Yeezy architect seated in the first row of a small plane, though not in business class.
West, 47, was seen sleeping in a monogrammed white robe, matching pants, and shoes. Censori, 29, scrolled through her phone, wearing a sizeable beige dress. “Was not expecting to see Kanye when I walked out of the bathroom, to say the least,” Doggett captioned the video. Another commenter noted, “Flying economy in those outfits – iconic.”
The video seems to have been taken the same day the couple was seen arriving at Narita International Airport in Japan, wearing the same outfits.
This frugal travel choice follows revelations that West’s Calabasas, Calif., home is in ruins. Photos obtained by Page Six last week showed the 320-acre estate vacant, with parts torn down and abandoned.
West, who lost his billionaire status in October 2022 after the fallout from his antisemitic rants, has reportedly been living more modestly.
Despite owning the desolate Calabasas ranch and a separate $4.5 million house in Hidden Hills, Calif., he and Censori reportedly pay $20,000 monthly for a two-bedroom penthouse in West Hollywood.
While it’s unclear if West is facing financial strain, he does have significant legal bills. He is being sued by several former employees, including a recent sexual harassment lawsuit filed by his ex-assistant, Lauren Pisciotta. Pisciotta claimed West bragged about having sex with an A-lister while on Viagra in explicit texts she received.
Attorneys have denied the baseless” allegations but did not comment on his financial situation.
This isn’t the first time West has flown economy. In October 2021, a fan tweeted about West sitting in the economy beside the bathroom.
In November 2022, an Instagram post showed West posing with a flight attendant, captioned, “Kanye West flying economy to Miami yesterday.””
