Jennifer Love Hewitt turned heads on the red carpet in Los Angeles as she debuted her bold new look at the premiere of I Know What You Did Last Summer, just days before the latest instalment in the slasher franchise hits cinemas.
The 46-year-old actress, best known for her iconic role as Julie James in the original 1997 film, stepped out with freshly dyed red hair, marking her first red carpet appearance since the transformation.

Hewitt, a natural brunette, first revealed her new hair colour on Instagram in May, but the premiere marked the colour’s official debut at a public event.
Dressed in a sleek black beaded midi gown by Rachel Gilbert, the actress paired the look with sparkling rhinestone heels, showcasing timeless elegance with a modern twist.

Forgoing a necklace, Hewitt accessorised with a stack of mixed-metal bangles on her left wrist and several statement rings, keeping the focus on her striking hair and fitted ensemble.

She previously shared the process behind her makeover with fans on social media, writing, “I have wanted to be red for so long! @nikkilee901 crushed this colour! She named my colour Sunset Lover 🌅 – Thank you.”
The bold hair change was met with admiration from fellow celebrities, with actress Alyssa Milano commenting, “This is a yes for me. 😍”

Her co-star Tommy DiDario added a touch of humour, writing, “Ravishing in red! 😍 Should I go red to match???”
Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are reprising their original roles in the upcoming reboot, which continues the horror story that captivated a generation nearly three decades ago.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hewitt admitted to initial hesitation about rejoining the franchise, saying, “If I was coming back as Julie, I just wanted to make sure that we were bringing back the best and right version of her.”
“I wanted to make sure that she fit into the movie in the right way and that there was a reason for her to come back besides just the ‘90s nostalgia moment,” she added.
The original 1997 premiere saw Hewitt, then just 18, wearing a strapless navy embroidered dress with chunky black platforms, her brown hair styled in a curly high ponytail.

Now, 28 years later, her return marks a full-circle moment as a new generation of cast members prepares to step into the suspense-filled storyline.
The upcoming release features a fresh lineup, including Madeline Cline, Gabbriette Bechtel, Chase Sui Wonders, Austin Nichols, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, and Billy Campbell.
The rebooted I Know What You Did Last Summer is set for release on July 18, reviving a cult franchise that helped define 1990s horror.
Fans of the original films can expect a blend of new blood and familiar faces as the story reimagines the terror that first captivated audiences in 1997.

The return of Hewitt and Prinze Jr. is expected to provide emotional continuity while introducing fresh perspectives through the younger cast.
Industry insiders are hopeful that the film will strike a balance between honouring the legacy of the original and delivering suspense for modern audiences.

As anticipation builds ahead of release day, Hewitt’s appearance on the red carpet has already sparked buzz, not just for the film, but for her stylish reinvention.
