Jennifer Lopez celebrated her 55th birthday lavishly, channelling Queen Charlotte from “Bridgerton” at her themed party in the Hamptons on Saturday.
The singer and actress dazzled guests in a custom couture gown designed by Manish Malhotra, who detailed the creation process on Instagram.
The bespoke gown, crafted by 40 artisans over 3,490 hours, featured a corset and hoop skirt adorned with a floral motif made from sequins and over half a million crystals. Lopez completed the baroque-inspired look with towering gold platform heels, an intricate updo with a tiara, and simple yet elegant jewellery, including a gold heart pendant, diamond stud earrings, and pearl bracelets.
Styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, and with hair by Jesus Guerrero and makeup by Scott Barnes, Lopez’s look mirrored the regal attire of Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuvel on the hit Netflix series. Later in the evening, she changed into a green off-the-shoulder gown with a dramatic train.
Lopez shared highlights from her birthday ball on Instagram, quoting “Dearest Gentle Reader…” from the show and expressing her gratitude for the birthday wishes. Her celebration included a throne, a performance by Lopez herself, a five-tier birthday cake, and a string quartet accompanying Victorian-style dancers.
The official Netflix account praised her as a “💎 diamond of the season 💎,” while Lopez’s mother, Guadalupe Rodríguez, also embraced the theme in a light-blue lace ballgown.
Lopez thanked her fans for their support and love in a heartfelt Instagram post on her birthday. She reflected on the overwhelming birthday messages and expressed her appreciation for her supporters, noting, “Thank you for your caring, understanding, loyalty and most importantly, your love. 🤍”
Notably absent from the festivities was Lopez’s husband, Ben Affleck, amid ongoing speculation about their relationship and rumours of a potential separation since March.
