Vice President-elect JD Vance, an avid Ohio State supporter, stirred attention after joking about prioritizing football over his upcoming inauguration.
The Buckeyes, set to face Notre Dame in the national championship game later this month, have captivated Vance, who previously declared this season’s team “the best” he’s seen in years.
However, the timing presents a notable conflict. The national championship game will take place on January 20 — the same day President-elect Donald Trump and Vance are set to be sworn into office.
Hopefully everyone is cool with me skipping the inauguration so I can go to the national title game

“Hopefully everyone is cool with me skipping the inauguration so I can go to the national title game,” Vance quipped on social media.
He humorously followed up with a meme depicting his two choices: “Attend your own inauguration” or “Go watch the Buckeyes win a national title.”
The Buckeyes earned their spot in the championship after defeating Texas in the Cotton Bowl, aiming for their first national title since 2014.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame, fresh off a victory over Penn State in the Orange Bowl, seeks its 12th national title and first since 1988.
Despite his playful remarks, Vance will be in Washington, D.C., as Trump takes the oath for his second term. Ohio State’s passionate alum will be cheering from afar as his beloved team battles for glory.
