Jamie Lee Curtis has proven that her charm and sense of humour remain as strong as ever.
She recreated a memorable scene from her 1985 film Perfect during a lively appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The 66-year-old actress delighted audiences by spoofing her iconic aerobics routine from the romantic drama, showcasing her signature fun-loving spirit.
In Perfect, Curtis starred alongside John Travolta, now 70, as fitness instructor Jessie, who meets journalist Adam (Travolta) during an aerobics class with suggestive choreography.
The scene, known for its sensual thrusting moves, has become a pop culture classic despite the film’s critical failure.
Nominated for three Golden Raspberry Awards and holding a mere 18% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has found a passionate defender in director Quentin Tarantino, who once called it “greatly underappreciated.”
While discussing the film with Fallon, Curtis corrected his claim that the scene lasted five minutes, noting it was seven. The pair then introduced a spoof version of the routine, with Fallon playing an enthusiastic participant.
The hilarious sketch featured Curtis wearing a replica leotard, dancing to music, eating pizza, and pouring champagne on herself.
In a comedic twist, she pulled a dove from Fallon’s shorts. The climax of the sketch included a funny defibrillator rescue, with Curtis and Fallon dancing around a patient lying on a stretcher.
Reflecting on the experience, Curtis later described the sketch as “some levity in really dark times,” referencing the devastating wildfires tearing through Los Angeles.
In an Instagram post, she acknowledged the difficulty of making comedy amid tragedy and expressed gratitude for Fallon’s support.
During her interview, Curtis also spoke candidly about the wildfires, revealing the personal toll on her community.
Although her home remains safe, many neighbours have lost theirs. “The entire city of the Pacific Palisades is burning,” she said, visibly emotional. “It’s just a catastrophe in Southern California.”
She shared the harrowing experience of receiving alarming messages while on a flight to New York for her appearance.
“It’s f****** gnarly, you guys,” she said, adding, “Everything—the market I shop in. The schools my kids go to.
Friends — many, many, many friends — have lost their homes.”
Curtis urged viewers to help in any way they could, whether through donations or blood drives, highlighting the efforts of the American Red Cross.
The Los Angeles wildfires, described as the most destructive in history, have forced over 100,000 people to evacuate and destroyed more than 1,000 buildings, including the homes of several Hollywood stars. The original blaze began in Pacific Palisades and has since spread to the Hollywood Hills.
Despite the sombre circumstances, Curtis remained committed to returning home immediately after her promotional duties for The Last Showgirl, demonstrating resilience and compassion amid the unfolding crisis.
