Jamaican Man Extradited to Canada to Face Murder Charge in Scarborough Stabbing
A Jamaican man has been extradited to Canada to face charges in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in a Scarborough apartment building in late April.
Toronto police were called to an apartment in the Lawrence Avenue East and Morningside Avenue area on April 24, shortly after 11:15 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man inside a residential unit who showed signs of trauma and was without vital signs. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old Mohamed “Mo” Abdalla Mohamed, also known as Mohamed Awad, a resident of Toronto.
Approximately ten days after the incident, Toronto police identified 30-year-old Jason Chambers, who was living in Toronto then, as a suspect in the case. Chambers was later located in Jamaica, where he was apprehended.
On Friday, Chambers was extradited to Canada to face a second-degree murder charge. He was scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Court on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Toronto police are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact them at 416-808-7400. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
