The body of Shani Louk, a German-Israeli dual national and tattoo artist who was a victim of the October 7 Israel music festival massacre, has been discovered in Gaza.
Israel reported the recovery of three bodies, including Shani Louk’s, in Gaza on Friday, local time.
Shani Louk, aged 22, was last seen at the Supernova music festival near Kibbutz Urim, Israel, on October 7, the day of the Hamas attack on the festival.
The attack resulted in the death of at least 364 people and the abduction of 40 hostages.
Videos surfaced online showing a partially naked woman, believed to be Shani Louk, lying in the back of a pick-up truck among armed men.
Initially thought to have been taken hostage by Hamas, Shani Louk was later declared dead on October 30 after a fragment of her skull was found at the festival site.
However, her body remained unrecovered and was held in Gaza during the ensuing conflict.
The attack on October 7, attributed to Hamas, led to Israel’s military response, resulting in significant casualties on both sides.
The Israeli army announced the recovery of three hostage bodies, including Shani Louk’s, in a televised address on Friday.
The victims, taken hostage during the Hamas attack, were declared murdered by their captors during the Nova music festival massacre.
Thousands of festival-goers had gathered near the Gaza border to enjoy electronic music at the Nova festival.
Fighters from Hamas infiltrated the festival grounds, resulting in the deaths of over 360 people, according to Israeli officials.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed condolences over the loss of lives and pledged to return all hostages, living and deceased.
The Nova festival tragedy accounted for a significant portion of the casualties, with nearly a third of the victims identified from the festival alone.
Despite efforts to recover hostages, a considerable number remain in captivity, including some declared deceased by the Israeli army.
Families of the victims expressed sorrow over the recovery of bodies and urged swift action to bring back all hostages from captivity.
