Tensions between Israel and Iran are escalating as Israel vows that Iran “will pay” for its recent attacks, while Tehran warns the U.S. to “step aside” and promises an “even tougher response” to any retaliation
The risk of an all-out war in the Middle East is growing as both sides ramp up military operations.
In recent developments, U.S. forces intercepted many of the nearly 200 ballistic missiles launched during the conflict.
However, the attacks have resulted in casualties, including one Palestinian killed in the occupied West Bank and damage reported at a school in central Israel.
The Israeli military announced that it would increase its presence in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah with infantry and armoured units. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that these forces would support ongoing “limited, localised, targeted raids” against Hezbollah positions.
In a counteraction, Hezbollah claimed to have repelled Israeli troops from a Lebanese border town.
Israel also conducted overnight airstrikes on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, continuing weeks of intense bombardment.
Lebanese officials report that the aerial attacks have claimed the lives of more than 1,000 individuals and displaced around 1 million people, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
As the conflict escalates, the international community is closely monitoring the situation, with fears that the hostilities could spill over into a wider regional war.
