Israeli forces have rounded up 100 Hamas fighters in a raid on the Kamal Adwan hospital in Jabaliya, northern Gaza, marking another substantial blow to the terror group.
Dramatic footage shared by the Israel Défense Forces (IDF) captured troops storming the hospital, which they claimed served as a “terror command centre.”
Reports from YNet News indicated that weapons, terror funds, and Hamas documents were discovered at the site. Of the 100 apprehended, approximately 60 were reportedly captured inside the hospital, including some linked to the October 7 attacks.
Soldiers from the elite Israeli reconnaissance unit Shayetet 13 were seen approaching the hospital with tanks and armoured vehicles before sneaking through its hallways. The video concluded with the squad examining what appeared to be a weapons cache found in one of the hospital rooms. However, it did not show any terrorists or medical personnel being apprehended.
In response to the raid, Hamas and Gaza health officials they disputed the presence of militants at the hospital, claiming that Israeli troops arrested essential male medical staff during a time when the facility was already struggling to operate.
The IDF countered that this action was necessary, as Hamas had reportedly disguised several identifiable fighters as medical staff. An official stated, “The soldiers apprehended approximately 100 terrorists from the compound, including terrorists who attempted to escape during the evacuation of civilians. Inside the hospital, they found weapons, terror funds, and intelligence documents.”
The IDF has stated that the operation in Jabaliya will continue, with two brigades remaining deployed and a third unit being repositioned.
Approximately 600 terrorists have surrendered throughout the broader campaign, with several going through new checkpoints near Jabaliya’s refugee camp. However, the IDF believes that a few hundred Hamas fighters remain active in the city.
Following a month of intensified offensive operations, the IDF has resumed its airstrikes in northern Gaza, causing extensive destruction. The military claims these actions are aimed at preventing Hamas fighters from regrouping after more than a year of conflict.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah is reportedly experiencing a wave of desertion among its ranks, as the group’s leadership has suffered significant losses due to Israeli airstrikes. Sources indicate that communication difficulties have arisen, with fighters failing to report to their designated locations, and some have fled to Syrian territory with their families to avoid confrontations with Israeli forces.
In a bid to counter these challenges, Hezbollah has begun sending reinforcements to southern Lebanon to support its operations against Israeli troops. Reports suggest that the group struggles to recruit new fighters amid the ongoing clashes on the south of the border.
Israel has responded with renewed airstrikes in the area of Tzur in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah weapon warehouses, military buildings, and observation posts. The Israeli military stated on X that Tzur is a significant area of terrorist activity for Hezbollah and the “Aziz” unit, which promotes operations against Israel and the IDF.
