A 23-year-old woman, identified as Nicole Morey, tragically lost her life in a dog attack at a residence in Ballyneety, County Limerick, in southwest Ireland.
The incident occurred at approximately 11.40pm on Tuesday evening. Following the attack, Ms. Morey’s body was transported to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.
Reports from Irish broadcaster RTE indicate that the dog involved in the attack was believed to be an XL bully.
Based on her social media presence, it appears that Ms. Morey was the affectionate owner of what seemed to be an XL bully.
One TikTok video showcases her dancing with a dog in a kitchen, while a male voice in the background asserts, “This is my son, and I don’t care if you perceive him as aggressive.
I also don’t care if you dislike his appearance, nor do I care about your opinions on whether the breed should be banned.”
Another unsettling video, captioned “But if one of us dies – I hope I die first,” seemingly portrays Ms. Morey as the owner of multiple dogs. The video concludes with the words “Love my family.”
In a separate post, she refers to herself as a “dogmom” and is seen giving treats to two dogs.
Despite receiving medical attention from paramedics, Ms. Morey tragically succumbed to her injuries at the scene on Tuesday. The Irish police, known as Garda, reported that one dog was euthanized, while three others were seized.
Ireland has a list of restricted breeds, which includes German shepherds, rottweilers, various bull terriers, and certain crossbreeds.
Owners of restricted dogs must ensure that their pets wear collars with identification tags, are muzzled in public, and are kept on a short, sturdy leash controlled by an individual over the age of 16 who can manage them effectively.
