An Irish tourist was reportedly sexually assaulted and robbed of her €8,000 Rolex watch while on vacation in Milano Marittima, Italy.

The incident occurred on the night of Wednesday, August 21, as the 26-year-old woman was returning from a night out.

According to local news outlet Ravenna Today, the woman was leaving a nightclub when she was followed by a man who allegedly assaulted her before fleeing with her Rolex watch.

The suspect, an 18-year-old man, was later apprehended and admitted to stealing the watch, but he denied any involvement in the alleged sexual assault.

He reportedly claimed that he took the Rolex due to his obsession with the luxury brand, telling police, “I’m addicted to Rolex.”

The young man, who has no prior criminal record and is from a well-off family in northern Italy, reportedly has a tattoo of a Rolex on his wrist. After his arrest, he informed the police of where he had buried the stolen watch.

Following the incident, the victim was hospitalized and spent several days under medical care. Her friends quickly alerted police, who were able to locate and detain the suspect after questioning a teenager who had been with him before the attack. The victim later identified the man as her assailant.

The suspect was held in custody for a day before being released on bail after a court hearing on Thursday. He is scheduled to appear in court again in October, where he is expected to offer compensation to the victim for her ordeal.
