Iran has vowed a ‘decisive response’ following US airstrikes on its nuclear sites yesterday (Sunday), escalating tensions in the Middle East further, and subsequently launched a wave of missile attacks targeting locations in Israel.
Army General Hatami warned the US that Tehran would retaliate strongly after precision strikes targeted Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities.
In a statement, Iranian armed forces spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaqari said: “Mr Trump, the gambler, you may start this war, but we will be the ones to end it,” adding that the US should expect “heavy” consequences.
Shortly after the strikes, Iran launched a wave of missile attacks targeting locations in Israel, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
The attacks come amid mounting diplomatic tensions and international calls for de-escalation. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned the strikes, declaring the “Zionist enemy” must be punished.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow today, seeking further support as regional hostilities intensify.
The US has defended the strikes as necessary to prevent Iran from advancing its nuclear weapons capabilities, a claim Tehran strongly denies.
The situation remains volatile as the world watches closely for further developments.
