Iran has issued a stark warning that all Resistance Fronts, a coalition including Iran and its regional allies, are prepared to confront Israel if it launches an attack on Lebanon.

The statement, conveyed through Iran’s mission to the United Nations in New York, underscores escalating tensions in the region amidst ongoing exchanges of fire between Israel and Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah movement.

Tensions have intensified this month, with both sides exchanging bellicose rhetoric. Israel’s military has reportedly finalized plans for a potential offensive in Lebanon, prompting warnings from Hezbollah that Israel would face extensive retaliation in a full-scale conflict.

In response to Israel’s military preparations, Iran’s mission characterized Israeli statements as psychological warfare aimed at Lebanon.

However, it emphasized that any escalation to full-scale aggression would trigger a devastating war, with all options on the table, including the involvement of all Resistance Fronts.

The backdrop to these developments includes ongoing hostilities since the war in Gaza, where Palestinian militants, including Hamas, have launched attacks into southern Israel. Iran, a supporter of Hamas, has praised these attacks while denying direct involvement.

Hezbollah, on the other hand, has been involved in periodic skirmishes with Israel in northern areas, while Iran-backed rebels in Yemen have targeted commercial ships in solidarity with Palestinians.

Iran’s stance against Israel dates back to the 1979 revolution that overthrew the US-backed Shah, and it has maintained a policy of non-recognition towards Israel ever since.

Earlier tensions peaked in April following an airstrike that destroyed Iran’s consulate in Damascus and resulted in casualties among Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.

This incident led to further escalation, including a drone and missile attack on Israel by Iran, followed by reported retaliatory strikes by Israel in Iran’s central province of Isfahan.

Despite these escalations, Tehran and Washington have sought to downplay the implications of these incidents on regional stability.
