As the November US election nears, new reports suggest that Iran may be inching closer to nuclear readiness, sparking concerns about its potential influence on the political landscape.

A recent analysis highlights that the Islamic Republic, emboldened by advancements in its nuclear program, could develop more than a dozen atomic bombs within the next four months — possibly before President Joe Biden leaves office in January 2025.

Iran has reportedly enriched over 6,200 kilograms of uranium to 5%, 20%, and 60% purity levels, a significant increase compared to the 2,400 kilograms of low-enriched uranium produced during the Trump administration.

This rapid enrichment and its installation of over 7,400 advanced centrifuges have alarmed experts. Tehran has also resumed operations at the Fordow enrichment site and is building a new facility near Natanz, reportedly designed to withstand military strikes.

Beyond its nuclear capabilities, Iran has demonstrated its willingness to act aggressively through proxy forces, including attacks on US assets and shipping and its involvement in the recent massacre of Jews in the region.

Experts warn that an Iran with nuclear weapons could become even more emboldened and dangerous, increasing its role as a destabilising force in the Middle East.

This evolving threat poses significant national security concerns for the US, with Iran’s nuclear ambitions adding to an already complicated legacy for the Biden-Harris administration.

Critics point to the administration’s diplomatic approach toward Iran as contributing to this growing danger, while concerns rise over what could happen if these developments continue unchecked.

The potential consequences of a nuclear-armed Iran are dire, with fears of further regional conflict and global instability mounting.
