Indian Man Declared Dead Awakes on Funeral Pyre in Shocking Incident
A 25-year-old man from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, who was prematurely declared dead by hospital authorities, stunned mourners when he began moving on his funeral pyre moments before it was set alight.
The incident in Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan has sparked outrage and prompted investigations into alleged medical negligence.
The man, identified as Rohitash Kumar, who had speech and hearing disabilities, was taken to a local hospital on Thursday after suffering what is believed to have been an epileptic seizure.
Upon arrival, a doctor declared him dead without conducting a mandatory postmortem examination, according to hospital officials.
Instead of verifying the cause of death through proper procedures, the hospital reportedly sent Kumar’s body to the mortuary, and later for cremation as per Hindu customs.
However, just as the pyre was about to be lit, witnesses noticed movements in Kumar’s body. “He was alive and breathing,” said Singh, the chief medical officer of the hospital.
The family immediately rushed Kumar back to the hospital, but he passed away the following day during treatment.
Authorities have since suspended three doctors involved in the case. Singh confirmed that one of the doctors had prepared a postmortem report without actually conducting the examination, violating standard medical protocols. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The shocking case has raised serious questions about negligence in medical practices and the urgent need for procedural accountability to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
