A 26-year-old illegal immigrant, who did not attend his scheduled immigration hearing after being released at the border, has been apprehended for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl in Long Island, according to law enforcement officials.

Wilson Castillo Diaz is accused of committing the assault on October 16, as reported by Nassau County police.

Specifics regarding the alleged incident, including Diaz’s connection to the victim and the location of the crime, have not been disclosed. Following the incident, the child was transported to a local hospital for a medical assessment, police stated.

Diaz, who was living in Westbury, had illegally crossed into the US near Rio Grande, Texas, in April 2014, according to cops. Brigitte Stelzer

Diaz, who resided in Westbury, had entered the United States unlawfully near the Rio Grande in Texas in April 2014. He was initially detained by U.S. border authorities but was subsequently released after receiving a notice to appear before an immigration judge.

According to police, Diaz did not show up for his immigration court hearing. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been informed of his recent arrest, although the police did not specify his country of origin.

Diaz was arraigned last Wednesday on multiple charges, including rape, attempted rape, and endangering the welfare of a child. He is currently being held on a cash bond of $200,000.
