Huw Edwards’ wife, Vicky Flind, has officially filed for divorce following his conviction on charges of making indecent images of children.
The former BBC presenter, 63, pleaded guilty to the charges in August 2023 after receiving illegal images from convicted paedophile Alex Williams via WhatsApp.
Edwards, a longtime face of British broadcasting, avoided jail time after being handed a six-month suspended sentence.
This means he will avoid prison if he does not commit another offense during the two-year suspension period.
As part of his punishment, Edwards must also complete a sex offender programme and is now listed on the sex offenders register for seven years.
Vicky Flind, who revealed her husband’s involvement in the scandal last year, has now moved to end their marriage legally.
According to sources, Flind separated from Edwards some time ago, but the divorce filing is the final step in breaking down their relationship.
A source close to the family shared: “Vicky has had enough and has been living separately for a while. Their communication is now handled solely through their legal teams.”
The couple, who share five adult children, had largely kept their private life out of the public eye during their 30-year marriage.
However, the scandal surrounding Edwards, which initially broke in 2022 when Flind publicly named him as the BBC presenter at the centre of explicit image allegations, has brought the family into the spotlight.
Recent reports indicate that Edwards has listed their six-bedroom family home in Dulwich for £4.75 million, a property the couple originally purchased for £1.85 million in 2006.
Edwards is reportedly living elsewhere following their separation earlier this year.
