A Florida man has been charged with improper storage of human remains after allegedly keeping the deceased body of his wife, Evamarie Macgregor, on the floor of their living room for days, even as their two dogs chewed her foot off.

According to M10News, Johnson, 60, called 911 on Saturday to report that an unknown person was inside his home and that his wife was lying on the floor, and he thought she was dead. Responding officers discovered Macgregor ‘obviously deceased with the skin missing from her face and her entire left foot completely removed from her leg.’

He said he left his wife’s body on the floor ‘because he did not want to lose her’ and that her foot was missing because their dogs chewed on it.

The man claimed that his wife cried for help from the living room four days ago and that she was already dead when he got to her. However, the level of decomposition of her body suggested that she had been dead for more than five days.

He admitted that he should have called the police or paramedics at the time of his wife’s ‘medical episode’.

Johnson was taken to the Panama City Beach Police Department and interviewed. Meanwhile, the authorities took Macgregor’s body to a medical examiner’s office and processed the crime scene. Johnson was arrested on Sunday and booked into Bay County jail on a $5,000 bond. His pretrial hearing has been set for January 18.

This incident happened about nine months after a woman was found guilty of killing her fiancé and concealing and living with his corpse for two months.
