Hezbollah Commander Ibrahim Qubaisi Killed in Israeli Airstrike on Beirut

Ibrahim Qubaisi, a commander in Hezbollah responsible for its rocket division, was killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut on Tuesday, according to multiple sources.

The strike resulted in the deaths of six individuals, marking another significant blow to the Iran-backed group, which has faced considerable losses from Israeli attacks over the past week.

The escalation of violence raises concerns that intensified pressure on Hezbollah could lead to a broader conflict, particularly amid ongoing clashes between Israel and Hamas, Hezbollah’s ally, in Gaza, as reported by Alarabiya News.

For the second consecutive day, Israel launched airstrikes on areas controlled by Hezbollah in the Lebanese capital, continuing a new wave of military operations across various locations in Lebanon.

With nearly a year of conflict against Hamas in Gaza, Israel appears to be shifting its military focus to the northern front, where Hezbollah has been firing rockets into Israel in support of Hamas.

The Lebanese health ministry reported that the airstrike in Beirut resulted in six deaths and 15 injuries. This follows previous airstrikes on Monday, which Lebanese authorities reported had claimed over 500 lives.

The latest strike targeted a building in the busy Ghobeiry neighborhood, with a security source sharing images showing damage to the top floor of a five-story structure. Israel’s military chief, Herzi Halevi, indicated that operations against Hezbollah would be escalated, stating, “The situation requires continued, intense action in all arenas.”

According to Lebanese officials, Monday’s airstrikes resulted in 558 fatalities, including 50 children and 94 women, with over 1,835 individuals injured and tens of thousands displaced as they sought safety from the violence.
