Helicopter Crash in Ireland Results in Multiple Casualties
A helicopter crash in County Westmeath, Ireland, has resulted in several casualties, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Joristown Upper townland near Killucan.
Emergency services, including An Garda Síochána, the ambulance service, and Westmeath Fire and Rescue Service, quickly mobilized to the scene. The helicopter, a single-engine aircraft, collided with a farm building, as indicated by images from the crash site.
Pat Hunt, Acting Chief Fire Officer with Westmeath Fire and Rescue Service, provided details on the incident during an interview with Midlands 103 radio station. He stated, “We understand that it’s an incident involving a helicopter crashing into a building in the Joristown Upper townland in Killucan, Co-Westmeath.”
Hunt confirmed that multiple casualties are involved but noted that the exact number has not yet been verified. The Irish Air Accident Investigation Unit has dispatched a team of inspectors to investigate the cause of the crash.
