Hamas leader and mastermind of the October 7 attacks, Yahya Sinwar, has been killed by Israeli forces in a raid in Gaza, officials confirmed.

Sinwar, responsible for the deadliest assault on Jews since the Holocaust, was among three militants eliminated during a routine Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) operation that unexpectedly targeted the terror chief.

The slain terrorist can be seen “wearing a vest carrying grenades,” according to Israeli media.

Preliminary DNA and dental tests suggest that Sinwar was one of the men killed in Rafah, according to Saudi and Israeli media sources.

The Israeli military has opened an investigation into the incident, stating, “The IDF and ISA are checking the possibility that one of the terrorists was Yahya Sinwar. At this stage, the identity of the terrorists cannot be confirmed.”

U.S. President Joe Biden has been briefed on the situation, while Hamas has yet to confirm or deny Sinwar’s death officially. The group warned against “fake news” and urged the public to follow official statements on social media.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant appeared to confirm the death on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a graphic of Sinwar with an X across his face and quoting Leviticus 26: “You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall before you by the sword.”
