Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has extended his thanks to Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah for his support in the ongoing conflict with Israel.
The message was made public on Friday by Hezbollah’s media office.
In the letter, dated Monday, Sinwar expressed gratitude for the “blessed acts” of assistance from Iran-backed groups since the outbreak of hostilities on October 7.
The conflict, which began with a Hamas-led attack that resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people and the abduction of 250 others, has been marked by significant violence. Sinwar described the war as “one of the most honourable battles for the Palestinian people.”
In response to the escalation, Hezbollah launched attacks on Israeli military positions along the border on October 8. This has led to a prolonged exchange of fire, with hundreds of casualties reported on both sides.
The Gaza Health Ministry has reported that over 41,000 Palestinians have been killed since the conflict began, though the figures do not differentiate between fighters and civilians. The war has led to widespread destruction in Gaza, displacing around 90% of the territory’s 2.3 million residents, often multiple times.
The United Nations has reported severe economic decline in Gaza and the West Bank, attributing the worsening situation to Israeli settlements, land confiscations, the demolition of Palestinian buildings, and violence by settlers. The U.N. Trade and Development report highlighted the “rapid and alarming economic decline” in the West Bank, further compounding the dire situation in the region.
