Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar’s Wife Spotted Fleeing Gaza with $32,000 Birkin Bag Hours Before October 7 Attacks, Israeli Officials Claim
Israeli officials have reported that Yahya Sinwar, the chief of Hamas, and his wife, Abu Zamar, were seen fleeing into a Gaza tunnel with a luxurious $32,000 Birkin bag just hours before the October 7 massacre.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released footage showing Sinwar, 61, and his wife navigating a narrow bunker hallway with their two young sons at 10:45 p.m. on October 6, 2023.
IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee shared the video on social media, highlighting the apparent disparity between Sinwar’s lifestyle and the dire economic situation in Gaza. “While Gaza residents have no money for food, we see many examples of Yahya Sinwar and his wife’s special love for money,” Adraee wrote on X, along with a screenshot of Abu Zamar holding the expensive handbag. He further questioned, “Did Sinwar’s wife enter the tunnel with him on October 6 carrying a Birkin bag estimated to cost around $32,000?!”
هل زوجة السنوار دخلت معه إلى النفق في السادس من أكتوبر وبحوزتها حقيبة لشركة بيركين التي تقدر كلفتها بنحو 32 ألف دولار؟! أترك لكم التعليق.

The Birkin bag is a status symbol frequently associated with celebrities and the ultra-wealthy. Public figures like the Kardashians and Melania Trump are often seen with similar high-end accessories. Sinwar, who married Abu Zamar in 2011 shortly after being released from an Israeli prison as part of a prisoner swap, is believed to have amassed a net worth of approximately three billion dollars.
The released footage indicates that Sinwar, identified as the mastermind behind the October 7 attacks, made multiple trips through the tunnel to retrieve belongings, including packages of water bottles and pillows. The video, which had been uncovered months prior by Israeli forces, has drawn considerable attention in light of recent events.
Following the October 7 attacks, the IDF intensified its search for Sinwar, ultimately locating his body during a rubble clearance operation in Tel al-Sultan after an airstrike. Reports indicate that he was found with $10,000 in cash and an ID belonging to a United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) teacher.
Adraee’s post received mock responses as observers reacted to the stark contrast between Sinwar’s apparent wealth and the hardships faced by the people in Gaza. One user commented, “Did not know that people in open-air prisons use Birkin bags,” while another quipped, “Sinwar’s wife’s Birkin bag was SO last year. Literally a war crime.”
In the aftermath of Sinwar’s death, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the event would mark a significant turning point in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. However, Hamas officials have claimed that Sinwar’s killing will only serve to strengthen their resolve.
