Halle Bailey, the 23-year-old actress and singer who starred in “The Little Mermaid,” surprised her fans by revealing that she gave birth to her first child in 2023.

Bailey announced the arrival of her baby boy, Halo, via Instagram on Saturday night, sharing a photo of herself holding her newborn’s hand.

A gold bracelet with “Halo” etched around the newborn’s wrist confirmed his name. Bailey’s long-time boyfriend, rapper DDG, also shared the exciting news on his Instagram page with the same picture.

Bailey never confirmed her pregnancy despite months of speculation. In November 2023, she even told fans to “leave [her] alone” in a social media video after someone commented that she had a “pregnancy nose.”

The predictions came to a head in September 2023 when Bailey attended the MTV VMAs in a flowing orange dress that hid her stomach. She made headlines for wearing a loose-fitting gown to the MTV VMAs in September. At the time, an insider told Page Six that Bailey stayed away from the pink carpet so she would not be photographed, and when she was inside, she was very mindful of how she gave hugs and whom she gave them.

Bailey continued to cover up on social media in the following weeks, from posing in creative angles to wearing blazers.
Fans begged her to announce her pregnancy by the time she walked the carpet at London’s Glamour Women of the Year Awards with her beau in an extra poufy dress in October 2023.

She wore a similarly poufy full-length gown at “The Colour Purple” premiere in early December 2023. Social media users speculated about the outfit choice via Twitter. Others called her out for seemingly editing Instagram photos of the ensemble.

Bailey and DDG have been dating since 2022. The duo met through social media, and DDG slid into Bailey’s DMs. The couple made their red carpet debut at the BET Awards three months later, with Bailey telling Essence how they met. Bailey grew up on YouTube, would always see the young Black creators, and was constantly inspired by them. Coincidentally, DDG messaged her, and the rest is history.
