Global IT Outage Disrupts Ryanair, Airports, and Various Services Worldwide
Ryanair has announced disruptions to its network due to a global third-party IT outage, advising passengers to arrive at least three hours before their flight.
The airline attributed the issues to factors outside its control.
Dublin and Cork airport operator daa reported that its systems are functioning normally but acknowledged some delays at check-in areas due to problems faced by other airlines. The daa team is assisting Ryanair and passengers in the terminals.
Aer Lingus stated it is not currently affected by the outage but cautioned customers to expect delays in check-in, security, and boarding. Passengers are advised to check the Aer Lingus website and app for updates.
Belfast International Airport confirmed that while the outage is impacting the airport, flights continue to operate, albeit with longer waiting times.
The global IT issue is also affecting various sectors, including media, banks, and telecom firms. The Road Safety Authority (RSA) reported significant disruptions, including halted National Car Tests and non-processing of learner permit and driving license applications at NDLS centers. Driving tests are still being conducted.
Public transport services, including Dublin Bus and Iarnród Éireann, are operating normally. However, the National Transport Authority noted reduced functionality in the TFI Live and TFI Leap Top-Up apps.
The RTÉ newsroom experienced intermittent internet outages early today, while the Health Service Executive and An Garda Síochána reported no impact on their systems.
Microsoft is investigating the issue affecting its 365 apps and operating systems, with partial recovery reported but continued service degradation expected. CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz confirmed a fix has been deployed for the bug affecting Windows hosts, and the company is working with impacted customers.
