At a rally in Atlanta on Saturday, former President Donald Trump introduced Georgia activist Michaelah Montgomery, who made a memorable impression on the audience.
The event took place at the Georgia State University Convocation Center.
Trump shared an encounter with Montgomery at a restaurant earlier this year, where she recognized him and praised his support for historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). He described her as “smart” and “sharp” and recounted when she thanked him with a kiss for his contributions to her college.
Trump then introduced Montgomery on stage, calling her “incredible” and expressing confidence in her future, promising his support. Montgomery, a student at Clark Atlanta University and the founder of Conserve the Culture spoke at the rally about the need to spread conservative messages to HBCU students.
She emphasized the importance of sharing the message beyond their community and asked the audience if they were genuinely committed to the cause. Montgomery affectionately referred to Trump as “Big T” before returning the stage to him.
The rally took place shortly after Trump faced criticism for his comments about Vice President Kamala Harris’ racial identity at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) convention. Trump questioned Harris’ heritage, stating, “I didn’t know she was Black until several years ago when she happened to turn Black.”
In response to Trump’s appearance at the NABJ convention, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson praised Trump for addressing tough questions. “I commend my friend for going into a hostile environment today and answering tough questions,” Carson posted on X.
