Four people have been arrested in Hull by the Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking team, in collaboration with neighbourhood officers and Operation Galaxy, as part of a major investigation.
The arrests followed a series of warrants executed under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act on Thursday, August 29.
The warrants were carried out at a residential property on Baden Close and two business locations—one on Beverley Road and the other on Spring Bank West.
During the operation, a significant amount of cash was confiscated, along with various other items such as financial documents, mobile phones, USB drives, and iPads.
The arrests included a 66-year-old man, who was detained on suspicion of human trafficking, money laundering, and possession of an offensive weapon.
Additionally, a 62-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking and money laundering. A 68-year-old woman was also taken into custody on suspicion of money laundering.
All suspects have been released on bail while further investigations are carried out.
Detective Sergeant Richard Kirk from the Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Unit highlighted the importance of these operations, stating, “Executing warrants like these is essential to our ongoing efforts to combat slavery and exploitation within our communities.
It also plays a crucial role in raising awareness of the serious issues surrounding modern slavery.”
He urged members of the public to report any suspicions of exploitation or forced labour by contacting the police via the non-emergency number 101 or by dialling 999 in an emergency.
