Former Dominican Candidate Abel Martínez Seeks Paternity Test Amid Allegations by Keire Vargas
Martínez’s legal team, led by attorney Rafael Ceballos, issued a press release confirming that the paternity verification process has been in progress for several weeks.
The legal proceedings are being conducted in strict adherence to Dominican law, with Martínez committed to ensuring responsibility and transparency.
The controversy surrounding Martínez arose during his presidential campaign, when rumors circulated about the possibility of him fathering a child.
According to Ceballos, Martínez took immediate responsibility by providing financial support, including monthly payments to the mother.

He also assured her that, after the campaign concluded, he would initiate legal steps to clarify the paternity issue and ensure compliance with the law, including establishing a relationship with the child if proven to be his.
Following the end of the campaign, Martínez approached the governing body for Children and Adolescents to formally request the start of the paternity verification process. His aim is to confirm whether he is the father and, if so, to fulfill all legal obligations.
Ceballos emphasized that the legal team initiated the process in good faith, summoning the child’s mother and filing the necessary complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office. They had hoped for a swift resolution through mutual consent. However, Vargas responded by making public accusations through a video on social media, which the legal team asserts are false.
“Abel Martínez’s position has been clear from the outset.
He approached the competent authorities to ensure transparency. If paternity is confirmed, he intends to act according to the law, guaranteeing the child’s rights and establishing the appropriate cohabitation arrangements,” Ceballos stated.
The lawyer further disclosed that Vargas has been legally notified of the lawsuit and has been summoned to appear before the relevant authorities on October 9.
In a live broadcast on Instagram, Keire Vargas made severe accusations against Martínez.
She claimed to have met him when she was 16 years old and working on his campaign during his tenure as a deputy for the PLD.
Vargas alleges that she has a 13-year-old son fathered by Martínez, whom she claims has kept their child hidden for years through threats.
In the video, Vargas emotionally recounted her experience, stating, “I know that what I’m going to say could hurt me, but this is something real, something that happened to me, and it’s important for everyone to know.”
She further alleged that Martínez took advantage of her when she was a teenager, adding that she believes many other young women may have had similar experiences.
The situation remains tense as both parties prepare for the upcoming legal proceedings, where the truth regarding the paternity claims will be determined.
