A fire has broken out at a Dublin site undergoing refurbishment to house asylum seekers for the second time this week.
The former Crown Paints factory on Malahide Road in Coolock was the scene of disorder on Monday, when a security guard was assaulted and a digger set alight.
On Thursday evening, the reception area caught fire.
Seven public order units from the Gardaí and three units from Dublin Fire Brigade responded, with approximately 200 people present.
A Garda statement read: “Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of an incident where a fire has broken out at premises on Malahide Road, Coolock, Dublin 17.
The road remains open in both directions. As this is an ongoing operation, An Garda Síochána has no further information.”
Following Monday’s unrest, 21 individuals were arrested and charged. Fifteen appeared in court that night, with six more appearing on Tuesday afternoon.
