A man in his twenties has lost his life after a shooting in Dublin during the early morning hours.
The incident occurred around 12:15 am on Knocknarea Road in the Drimnagh area.
Following the shooting, three men were swiftly apprehended and are currently in custody at Dublin’s garda stations, where they can be detained and questioned for up to three days.
Investigators suspect a connection to serious and organized crime but are working diligently to ascertain the precise circumstances and motives behind the incident.
Reports indicate that the arrested men were found wearing bullet-proof vests, suggesting a deliberate and potentially violent confrontation.
Multiple vehicles were involved in the altercation, including instances of car ramming, and gunfire erupted during the confrontation.
At the crime scene, the deceased victim’s body awaits examination by the State Pathologist for a preliminary assessment before being transferred for a detailed post-mortem analysis.
The Garda Technical Bureau is actively conducting a meticulous forensic examination of the area to gather crucial evidence.
Given the gravity of the situation, a Senior Investigating Officer has been assigned to lead the inquiry, coordinating efforts to piece together the sequence of events leading to the fatal shooting.
Residents and witnesses are urged to provide any information that could aid the investigation.
Pascal Connor, a resident in Drimnagh, recounted hearing a disturbance near his home shortly after midnight, describing a scene involving multiple vehicles and gunfire. The incident has rattled the ordinarily tranquil neighbourhood, with residents expressing shock and disbelief at the violence unfolding in their midst.
Authorities encourage anyone with relevant information to contact Sundrive Road Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line, or any local Garda station, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in resolving such tragedies and bringing perpetrators to justice.
