The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reports that more than 1,000 Nigerians are stranded in the UK due to fake employment letters, resulting in visa rejections by the organizations they intend to work for.
Many victims invested substantial amounts, up to $10,000 each, to secure foreign employment. IOM’s Chief of Mission, Mr. Laurent De Boeck, revealed this information and highlighted the challenges faced by these individuals, including financial losses and the reluctance to return home due to shame.
The IOM is actively involved in efforts to repatriate affected individuals and is collaborating with various countries to establish legitimate migration pathways for qualified Nigerians.
Additionally, he mentioned IOM’s efforts to repatriate individuals affected by a migration ban in Tunisia and the organization’s collaboration with various countries, such as Italy, Spain, Belgium, and France, to establish legitimate pathways for qualified Nigerians.
