Embracing the Easter Spirit: Reflecting on Faith and Action

As Easter approaches, Christians worldwide commemorate the profound victory of Jesus over sin and death.

The Holy Week has allowed us to reflect on Jesus’s ultimate sacrifice, arrest, trial, and suffering.

This year, during the Lenten season, I embarked on a journey to strengthen my faith and embrace the true meaning of Easter.

Returning to the Basics of Faith:
Lent provided me with a valuable opportunity to reconnect with the core principles of my faith. Over 40 days, I dedicated myself to spiritual preparation leading up to the celebration of Easter.

Serving Others:

In line with Christ’s teachings, I actively served my local community throughout Lent. Collaborating with volunteers, I participated in various initiatives, such as supporting a debt advice service and joining those combating hunger and loneliness by providing nourishment and companionship.

Additionally, I showed solidarity with those protecting children from exploitation, participated in a community choir focused on improving mental health, and learned about initiatives aiding victims of domestic abuse.

Advocating for the Homeless:

With my family, colleagues, and a larger group of compassionate individuals, I participated in the ‘Sleep Easy’ event, an initiative to raise awareness of the vulnerability faced by people experiencing homelessness.

By spending one night sleeping rough, we shed light on the urgent necessity for safe and sustainable housing. Our efforts were dedicated to supporting the commendable work of organizations like Derby YMCA and Padley Group.

Deepening My Spiritual Connection:
Privately, I dedicated time each day to cultivating a deeper relationship with God. I embraced God’s presence in the world around me through moments of silence and stillness.

A simple but joyful pursuit involved using a free bird identification app on my phone, where I could identify bird songs and share my discoveries on social media.

Sharing the Good News:

In line with the teachings of Jesus, I actively spread the message of love, hope, and salvation. I seized every opportunity to invite others to join the Kingdom of God as His devoted disciples.

One of the most remarkable moments of this Lenten season was witnessing the Service of Baptism and Confirmation at HM Prison Foston Hall.

Welcoming individuals facing complex circumstances into the Household of God was an extraordinary privilege.

Invitation to Embrace the Promise of Easter:
This Easter, I extend an invitation to all, including those considering the choice to follow Jesus Christ or reaffirm their commitment to Him.

Together, let us embrace the extraordinary promise and joy of new life as we celebrate Easter Sunday.

May this Easter be filled with abundant hope, peace, and joy. As we reflect on Jesus’s incredible sacrifice and resurrection, let us find inspiration in our shared faith and strive to make a positive difference in the world.
