Vivian Wilson, the 20-year-old estranged transgender daughter of tech billionaire Elon Musk, announced her intention to leave the United States following Donald Trump’s recent victory in the presidential election.

In a candid post on Threads, Wilson, who has distanced herself from her father, expressed discomfort with the nation’s political landscape under Trump’s return to office, as the UK’s Daily Mail reported.

In her post, Wilson described her future plans: “I don’t see my future in the United States.” She explained that her concerns have been building for some time but were solidified by the election results. “Even if [Trump] is only in office for four years, even if anti-trans regulations don’t materialize, the people who voted for this aren’t going anywhere anytime soon,” Wilson wrote, hinting at a broader disillusionment with the current sociopolitical climate.

Wilson, who was born Xavier Musk in 2004, officially filed to change her name and gender in April 2022, also requesting to adopt her mother’s maiden name, Wilson, in an effort to legally and personally separate from her father. In her court filings, she stated, “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”

Musk, 53, has publicly acknowledged his strained relationship with Vivian, often describing their ideological differences. He has referred to her as a “communist” who views wealth as “inherently evil.” Musk also stated he felt misled into consenting to her use of puberty blockers, explaining, “I was essentially tricked into signing documents for Xavier.

I didn’t fully understand what was happening at the time; it was during COVID, and I was told Xavier might commit suicide.” Musk has previously criticised puberty blockers as “sterilisation drugs” and condemned gender dysphoria as “incredibly evil,” claiming that those promoting it “should go to prison.” Reflecting on his relationship with Wilson, he added, “I lost my son… They call it ‘deadnaming’ because your son is dead, killed by the woke mind virus.”

In response, Wilson has spoken about feeling unsupported by Musk during her upbringing, suggesting he played a minimal role in her life. “He doesn’t know what I was like as a child because he simply wasn’t there,” she said.

She also recounted experiences of criticism from her father over her “femininity and queerness.” Elaborating further, she shared, “I was relentlessly harassed for my femininity and queerness. I’ve been reduced to a stereotype.

I think that says a lot about how he views queer people and children in general.”

The developments underscore a continued rift between Musk and Wilson, highlighting both ideological and personal differences within the high-profile family.
