Billionaire Elon Musk has reportedly contributed significantly to a political group backing former President Donald Trump for the 2024 election.

According to Bloomberg News, Musk, 53, donated a “sizeable amount” to America PAC, a super PAC supporting Trump’s candidacy.

America PAC, which was formed in Austin, Texas, in May—coinciding with the location of Musk’s electric car company Tesla—has spent at least $6.6 million on Trump’s behalf, as the New York Times reported. The super PAC is expected to disclose its list of donors on July 15.

The America PAC website encourages voters to participate in the election, stating, “Vote and have your say if America can be a land of freedom and opportunity for all.

We can have the most significant election victory in America’s history when you vote!”

This donation marks Musk’s most significant political contribution to date. Previously, Musk donated $50,000 to the McCarthy Victory Fund in 2017 and over $35,000 to the Obama Victory Fund in 2011, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Donald Trump

In March, Musk encountered Trump at a breakfast event in Florida, which he later described to former CNN anchor Don Lemon as a brief interaction where Trump did most of the talking and did not request a campaign contribution.

Musk clarified on his social media platform X that he is not donating money to either candidate for the U.S. presidency and has not publicly endorsed any candidate for the 2024 race. However, he has expressed opposition to President Biden.

Despite previous reports suggesting Musk might take on a White House advisory role under a future Trump administration, the SpaceX founder denied such claims in May.

Musk, who became a U.S. citizen in 2002, has had a longstanding, albeit complex, relationship with Trump. In an interview with CNBC earlier this year, Trump remarked, “I’ve helped him when I was president. I helped him. I’ve liked him.”

As the 2024 election approaches, Musk’s political contributions and statements will likely continue to draw significant attention.
