Doja Cat Faces Allegations of Abuse by Brother: Temporary Restraining Order Filed, Court Grants Protection to Mother
Doja Cat is reportedly facing allegations of physical abuse from her older brother, as detailed in a temporary restraining order filing obtained by M10News.
According to documents filed on Jan. 12 in Los Angeles Superior Court by Doja’s mom, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer, the “Paint the Town Red” artist’s brother, Raman Dalithando Dlamini, is accused of knocking out the singer’s teeth.
Sawyer states that Doja, born Amala Ratna Zadile Dlamini, requires protection against her 30-year-old brother, who allegedly inflicted cuts and bruises.
The filing notes that Raman has verbally assaulted her in a degrading manner, making the Grammy winner feel unsafe and traumatized. Additionally, the documents claim that Raman stole and damaged some of Doja’s personal belongings.
Sawyer herself alleges that Raman has been physically abusive towards her on multiple occasions over the past year, threatening her life.
The most recent violent encounter between them reportedly took place in early January. Despite temporary restraining orders against Raman granted to Sawyer in 2017 (which have since expired), TMZ reports that a judge has now given her request for temporary protection pending a hearing for a permanent restraining order.
However, Doja was not granted the same protection, as she would need to file her restraining order request.
Amid the allegations, Doja Cat has been active on social media. She shared Coachella’s 2024 lineup on Instagram, where she’s set to headline alongside Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator, and No Doubt.
Additionally, she posted a selfie sporting three pairs of sunglasses with the caption “:).”
Despite Page Six’s request for comment, representatives for the “Streets” singer have not responded at the time of reporting.
