Dentist Jailed for 10 Years After Kidnapping and Raping Instagram Model

A prominent Instagram model, Stefania Costache, has come forward with shocking allegations, revealing she was drugged, abducted, and raped by her dentist during a dental appointment.

The dentist, Costin Iulian Berechet, has since been convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison by a Romanian court.

Costache, known to her 240,000 Instagram followers as “Lolrelai,” disclosed the details of the harrowing incident in a video blog posted in March.

According to her account, Berechet initially contacted her on Instagram in January 2020, offering a barter arrangement in exchange for dental work.

Costache, struggling with noticeable dental problems, believed this would be a mutually beneficial agreement.

“I saw the opportunity to fix my teeth when he wrote to me and decided to see what could be done,” Costache explained.

However, the appointment took a dark turn when Berechet allegedly drugged her, transported her to his apartment, and sexually assaulted her.

The incident sparked a police investigation, and Berechet was arrested and brought to trial. Despite denying the allegations, Berechet was found guilty of both sexual assault and false imprisonment by the Bucharest District Court.

In addition to the prison sentence, Berechet was ordered to pay £40,000 in compensation to Costache and has been banned from practising dentistry for five years following his release.

Adrian Cuculis, Costache’s lawyer, spoke out after the sentencing, saying, “The doctor was sentenced to ten years in prison for sexual assault and deprivation of liberty.

Court also accepted our request for moral damages and awarded £40,000 in compensation.”

The court also heard testimony from other women who reported similar experiences with Berechet, though their cases were previously dismissed due to lack of evidence.

Cuculis noted that these women had confirmed “they suffered the same fate,” but other prosecutors did not pursue their complaints.

Costache has been praised for her courage in publicly addressing the assault and pushing for legal action. Her case has drawn widespread attention and highlighted the importance of holding perpetrators accountable.

In a separate case, a Majorcan taxi driver was accused of raping a British tourist after picking her up from a restaurant. The woman managed to contact her parents, who alerted police.

Authorities found her in distress, claiming the driver attempted to assault her before leaving her semi-naked in a car park. The investigation into that incident is ongoing.
