A Delta passenger recounted a troubling incident on a recent flight when another traveller experienced an unfortunate mishap mid-flight.
On a Delta Reddit thread, a passenger in first class had a “poop accident” during a Thursday flight, causing a terrible odor throughout the cabin.
Horrified passengers urged the flight attendant to clean up the mess, but the man intervened, insisting it wasn’t her job.
“I approached her and told her that it was not her responsibility, and she was doing a great job under the circumstances,” he said.
He later shared a photo of a note from the grateful flight attendant as he disembarked.
“I apologize that your first-class flight wasn’t as pleasant as it should always be. Thank you for your understanding. I sent you some miles. Thank you for being a million miler,” the note read.
The man also followed up with management after the flight to commend the flight attendant’s handling of the stressful situation.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident.
Last month, a United Airlines flight to Seattle had to divert to Dallas after a dog had an accident in the aisle, which required ground crew to spend over two hours cleaning up.
Earlier this year, a parent claimed that a fellow passenger had an accident on a Delta flight on Christmas Eve, leaving a mess all over the seat, as described in a viral Reddit post.
In September, a Delta flight from Atlanta to Barcelona had to turn around and make an emergency landing after a passenger had severe diarrhoea throughout the plane.
The pilot described the situation as a “biohazard issue” to air traffic control, as recorded on LiveATC.com and shared on X.
