Crystal Hefner reveals Hugh Hefner’s unrealistic expectations of her appearance
Crystal Hefner, the widow of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, has opened up about her marriage to the late media mogul and how he wanted her to look a certain way.
In an exclusive interview with Tamron Hall, airing Feb. 5, Crystal said that Hugh wanted her to “be seen and not speak, be helpless, be small, have bleach blonde hair and stay skinny and have big fake boobs.”
She told E! News that she is now in a “much better place” and has changed her maiden name to Crystal Harris.
The 37-year-old model, who married Hugh from 2012 until he died in 2017, also claimed that he would often criticize her appearance and make her feel insecure.
“He would tap my head and say, ‘You need to get your roots done.’ Or he would hit me on the thigh and say, ‘You need to tone up,'” she recalled.
Time in the iconic Playboy Mansion.
Crystal said that she lost her sense of identity and self-worth during her relationship with Hugh, who was 60 years older than her.
“I didn’t know who I was. I became whatever he wanted me to be,” she said.
Crystal has written a memoir titled Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself, in which she details her “traumatic” and “very restrictive” marriage to Hugh, as well as her healing journey after his passing.
“I feel that I finally have true freedom,” she said.
