Cristiano Ronaldo’s Red Card Incident Overshadows Al-Nassr’s Saudi Super Cup Loss to Al-Hilal
Cristiano Ronaldo was at the centre of controversy during Al-Nassr’s 2-1 loss to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup semi-final match. The tense encounter saw tempers flare, with Ronaldo clashing with Al-Hilal defender Ali Al-Bulaihi in a heated moment near the touchline.
The incident occurred as Al-Nassr trailed 2-0, and Ronaldo sought to take a quick throw-in, but Al-Bulaihi’s intervention led to a physical altercation. Ronaldo was seen elbowing Al-Bulaihi first in the chest and then in the neck, sparking tensions between the teams.

Amidst the escalating situation, Ronaldo’s teammate Aymeric Laporte tried to calm the problem to prevent a full-blown brawl between the players.
Ronaldo’s actions resulted in a red card, leading to further frustration as he sarcastically applauded the referee while leaving the pitch, which marred his illustrious career.
Earlier in the match, Otavio’s goal for Al-Nassr was disallowed due to offside, which may have contributed to Ronaldo’s heightened emotions and subsequent booking for dissent.
Despite Sadio Mane’s late goal after Ronaldo’s dismissal, Al-Hilal secured a 2-1 victory and advanced to the final, disappointing Ronaldo and Al-Nassr.
Al-Hilal manager Jorge Jesus commented on Ronaldo’s reaction, suggesting it stemmed from the star’s unfamiliarity with losing, given his stellar career and winning mentality.
The focus now shifts to the showdown between Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, with Karim Benzema’s impressive performance helping Al-Ittihad secure a place in the final after defeating Al-Wedha.

Benzema’s early goal, setting a record for the fastest goal in Saudi Super Cup history, set the tone for Al-Ittihad’s victory, with Abderrazzak Hamedallah’s goal further strengthening their position.
Despite a late consolation goal for Al-Wedha, Al-Ittihad held on for a 2-1 win, setting the stage for an exciting final clash with Al-Hilal.
The upcoming final promises to be a thrilling encounter as both teams vie for glory, with the match set to take place at Al Nahyan Stadium, offering football fans an exciting spectacle to look forward to.
