Meanwhile, in Brooklyn, a female student at NYU Engineering was arrested Tuesday morning. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona condemned the pro-terror demonstrations at Columbia University during a Senate subcommittee hearing, labelling them as “abhorrent.”
He stressed that campuses should be free from hate and expressed concern over antisemitism.
Cardona stated that his department is investigating Columbia and increasing Title VI investigations, emphasising the unacceptability of antisemitic comments towards Jewish students.
Meanwhile, Itai Bavli, a Canadian-Israeli peace activist, was denied entry to a University of British Columbia encampment due to his belief in Israel’s existence. Despite advocating for Israeli-Palestinian coexistence, Bavli’s request for dialogue was rejected, with organisers questioning his stance on Palestinian liberation.
