Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke has made shocking revelations about his decision to join Celebrity Big Brother UK. He admits his career is “in the toilet” and that this was his alternative to starring in another low-budget film.
The 72-year-old Iron Man 2 star’s candid confession comes amid controversy over his behavior toward host AJ Odudu during the show’s launch.

In an unfiltered interview with The Sun, Rourke didn’t hold back:
“My career is in the toilet, and I’m not getting A-list movies. It was between this or a terrible independent movie, and I’ve had it up to here with bad independent movies.”
The Oscar-nominated actor, known for The Wrestler and Sin City, acknowledged his past mistakes, blaming no one but himself for his career decline.
After a brief boxing stint and a failed Marvel comeback, Rourke has been relegated to straight-to-DVD films like Murder Motel and an unreleased Roman Polanski project.
Rourke’s CBB debut has sparked backlash after viewers accused him of inappropriate behaviour towards host AJ Odudu. Despite calls for his removal, ITV has kept him in the house alongside stars like Dance Moms’ JoJo Siwa and Love Island’s Chris Hughes.
Taking inspiration from Mick Jagger, Rourke claims he’s no longer the hard-partying playboy of his youth.

However, his recent scandals—including calling Amber Heard a “gold-digger” and dismissing Tom Cruise as “irrelevant”—suggest his infamous temper remains intact.
“Once it goes past a certain point, I’ve got a short fuse—there’s no turning back,” he warned.
While he dreams of working with top directors again, Rourke admits his reputation precedes him.
For now, Celebrity Big Brother offers an unexpected platform—but whether it revives his career or deepens his notoriety remains to be seen.
M10 News will continue to track Rourke’s journey in the house. Stay tuned for updates.
