Kanye West has sparked outrage after suggesting he wished he had children with Paris Hilton rather than his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.
The 47-year-old rapper made the controversial remarks during a recent Twitch stream with Digital Nas, before being banned from the platform after just seven minutes.
During his rant, West said, “I should’ve had babies with Paris Hilton over Kim Kardashian. Could you imagine if I had kids with Paris Hilton? How many hotels would I have now.
Think about that — the Hilton. I think y’all are staying at the Hilton right now. Edition Hotels is a Hilton.
However, some users quickly pointed out that Edition Hotels are, in fact, part of the Marriott group.
Paris Hilton, 44, and Kim Kardashian, 44, have a long-shared history. In the early 2000s, Kim worked for Paris, acting as her assistant and close companion.
The arrangement helped Kim carve her path to fame before her family’s reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, launched her into stardom.
Kim eventually married West in 2014 following years of friendship and two years of dating. The couple went on to have four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
However, Kim filed for divorce in 2021, citing irreconcilable differences and expressing that despite attempts to repair their relationship, they were no longer aligned.
West’s comments have been met with widespread condemnation online. Many fans expressed concern for the impact his statements could have on his children.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Talking about your children’s mother like this, especially publicly, is insane.” Another commented, “I feel bad for his kids, having to hear their father talk about their mom this way.”
Others criticised West’s assumption that Hilton would have been interested in him romantically.
Meanwhile, hotel enthusiasts corrected his mistaken association of Edition Hotels with the Hilton chain.
Kim Kardashian has previously opened up about the difficulty of witnessing West’s increasingly erratic behaviour.
On The Kardashians, she told her sister Khloe, “If people knew what my relationship was really like, I think they would be like, ‘How did this last this long?’” She explained that she had made every effort to save the marriage and felt no guilt walking away.
After their split, Kim has largely avoided speaking publicly about West, though she admitted in 2023 that it was “the hardest feeling” to watch someone she once loved become unrecognizable.
She also shared that she still “misses” the person she married and would “do anything to get that person back.” Despite the tension, their children continue to spend time with their father.
Meanwhile, Paris Hilton married businessman Carter Reum in 2021 after dating for two years.
The couple has since welcomed a son and a daughter via surrogacy.
Kanye West’s erratic behaviour has continued to raise alarm in recent years, including repeated antisemitic remarks.
He has been associated with controversial merchandise displaying swastikas and even referred to himself as a “Nazi” on X, a statement he later tried to walk back after being reinstated on the platform.
