Cardi B Files for Divorce from Offset Again, Seeks Custody of Their Children
Cardi B has reportedly filed for divorce from her husband, Offset, for the second time. The couple, who secretly wed in September 2017 shortly before announcing their engagement, initially separated in 2018 following the birth of their daughter, Kulture. Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, first filed for divorce in 2020, but the couple reconciled shortly after and welcomed their son, Wave, in 2021.
The latest filing was submitted on Wednesday, with Cardi B seeking primary custody of their two children. Reports suggest that recent rumours about Offset’s alleged infidelity are not the cause of the breakup. Instead, an insider revealed that the couple had “grown apart,” and this emotional distance drove the decision to end their marriage.
Sources indicated that the divorce was “a long time coming” and was not spontaneous. Cardi B and Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, have not publicly commented on the separation.
Their relationship has been marked by ups and downs, including a previous reconciliation after Cardi B’s 2020 filing and public appearances together, such as at a Knicks game and during Mother’s Day celebrations. Cardi B had hinted at being single in an Instagram Live session late last year, expressing her desire for a fresh start in 2024.
In a candid interview with Rolling Stone in May, Cardi B discussed the challenges of balancing her career with her relationship, acknowledging that her career often precedes her marriage. Despite their deep bond and mutual support, she struggled to prioritize her relationship.
The couple’s turbulent romance continues to capture public attention, with fans closely following the developments of their high-profile relationship.
